(Growth) knowledge is power

The team at WordStream, a platform that helps you optimize and measure your paid search and social campaigns, reminds us that the written word is also powerful. “And we wouldn’t trade it,” they say. But they also know, “folks learn in all sorts of different ways.”

And one of the most popular ways through which they do so is video (which, of course, we couldn’t agree with more). So they’re bringing fundamental digital marketing knowledge to their readers in a format that they felt would be as simple as possible to consume.

So what are we learning with this?

Well, the learning centers around digital marketing, as I mentioned, but it’s also about the fundamentals of growing a business. About winning new agency clients and understanding YouTube advertising.

WordStream is calling it: Growth Academy. They say they’ve been working on this one for months, and they launched just earlier this week. It’s a comprehensive, interactive roadmap to growing your business through digital marketing, including online advertising, lead generation, and ecommerce. It’s apparently completely free and taught by some top marketers in the space.

As eager-to-learn marketers and video fanatics ourselves, I know G, James, & I are checking this one out—to educate one another, to better understand, and to get an outside perspective on what's nearest and dearest to our content-creating hearts.

It's all about the people

The hardest part about building a company is oftentimes just finding great people.

And Bullhorn recruiting software is dropping insights on global recruitment trends in 2020, which should perk all our ears, right?

It’s called the “GRID,” or Global Recruitment Insights and Data, and it’s a look at what 2,000+ global recruitment professionals shared about their top challenges (like pricing pressures and skills shortages), their priorities (like candidates, clients, and embracing digital transformation), plus their predictions for what’s to come in 2020.

Even if you’re not in the recruitment space, the hiring process no doubt affects every one of us. From solopreneurs to the big wigs. There will always be options for hiring and expansion—or, on the other hand, downsizing and trimming the fat.

So what does Bullhorn say this year will bring for goals, priorities, and challenges in the hiring space? Check out the downloadable deck and see for yourself. Because without great people, you will ultimately fail.

We also have an episode of Protect the Hustle during which’s Mike Volpe walks us through his methodology for recruiting, hiring, and retaining stellar team members—that allowed him to build the marketing department at HubSpot into what it is today. Take a listen and let us know what you think.

An ecommerce one-stop shop

We see a podcast launch we're digging, courtesy of Dave Gerhardt—the newly minted CMO over at Privy, formerly a marketing master at Drift. It’s called The Ecommerce Marketing Show.

Because, ”In a world where everyone is drowning in information, this podcast can be the one stop shop for everything you need to know about growing your ecommerce business in 2020 and beyond.”

Ecommerce might sound straightforward: You create products that people want, set up a store on Shopify, and you’re set for success.

But that’s not the reality.

For the majority of entrepreneurs and small businesses in ecommerce, solely launching that store is not enough. Companies need to cut through the noise and become trusted, building genuine loyalty from their users.

Dave says his mission is “to help you become an expert in ecommerce marketing so you can sell more stuff, grow your business, and live the life that you want.” Weekly, he’ll be bringing you interviews with leaders from top ecommerce brands, lessons learned from the reported 400,000+ businesses using Privy, and marketing tips and tricks you can steal ASAP.
